Andrey Boreyko, music director

Andrey Boreyko, the new music director of the NOB for 5 years, was born in Leningrad in 1957.
He is the music director of the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra and first guest conductor of the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra, and the Orquesta Sinfónica de Euskadi in San Sebastian. Boreyko has been a guest conductor for the Berlin Philharmonic, the Leipzig Gewandhausorchester, the Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam, the London Symphony Orchestra and the top American orchestras: New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Los Angeles, and Chicago. As head conductor of the Jenaer Philharmonie he won the award for the most innovative programming in Germany, three years running. His main interest is music since 1900. He has worked with Górecki, Gubaidulina, and Pärt and has recorded work by Takemitsu, Silvestrov, Shostakovich, and Pärt.
