Biography

For more than 75 years, the NOB has given passionate performances of the great classics of the symphonic repertoire, while also bringing the same vigour to bear on the music of its own time. As its new Music Director, Andrey Boreyko follows in the footsteps of inspired conductors such as André Cluytens, Michael Gielen, Mikko Franck, and Walter Weller.
The orchestra has a long-established partnership with the Brussels Centre for Fine Arts and also performs regularly for Belgium’s three communities in each of the country’s provinces. It works closely with the Queen Elisabeth Competition, accompanies great operatic voices, and runs a large number of educational projects for young people. Its international reputation has grown steadily, thanks to its tours, its concerts and its award-winning series of recordings on Fuga Libe.
